Middle School Cross Country

starts Monday, August 19

Registration is now closed

A new fall program for middle school students to get systematic training organized by a qualified coach for cross country running.

  • Open to grades 6-8
  • Workouts: Mon - Wed - Fri, from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm
  • Location: Broken Arrow Park
  • 8 week session running through Friday, Oct 11
  • Age appropriate workouts
  • Opportunity for competitions
  • Cost: $20 includes T-shirt
  • Registration will open Aug 1 on Active.com (click on "register now!")
  • Printable registration form available here and also at Garry Gribble's Running Sports and the middle school offices
  • Maximum participants: 40
  • First practice is Aug 19; late registrations will close Aug 26
  • Volunteer Coach: Dan Kuhlman
    USATF Level 1 and RRCA certified coach
    13 years middle school track and 8 years high school cross country coaching experience

The Youth Running Project (YRP) seeks to support and enhance existing youth running efforts in the Lawrence area for 6-8 grade youth. YRP will expose youth to distance running and training principles under the supervision of qualified coaches providing them with opportunities for running, training and competitions at age appropriate levels. YRP is under the umbrella of runLawrence, an affiliate of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA).
