Aug 30
Scenes from the Bob Timmons Classic at Rim Rock Farm. This was the start of KU's cross country season. The KU women were led by Tori Wingrove, Emmaculate Jemutai and Kaitlyn Swartz who swept the podium to propel KU to a dominating win. Oral Roberts won the men's 6K race with Abraham Chelangam and Andrew Smithwick taking 1-2.

They did it again, the Ad Astra team won the sub-masters category at this year's Hood to Coast Relay. The 12-man team ran the 196 miles in 20:17:17 beating the 2nd place Some Zags who did 22:13:01.

After I photographed the 5:05 am Defend Lawrence! Run, I took my camera to document the first Red Dog's Dog Days workout for the fall.
The photo shows one of the workout leaders favorite run - up 14th Street. Earlier the Defend Lawrence runners ran up 12th Street in the dark.

At the Monday, July 28 meeting, runLawrence received the Lawrence Public Schools Outstanding Service to Public Education Award for its contributions to the local elementary school marathon clubs from the annual Thanksgiving Day Run. Denise Johnson presented the awards to (l-to-r) club officers Gene Wee, Dee Boeck, Molly Wood and Becky McClure.
July 28

Podium winners from the National Senior Games 10K in Des Moines IA Sat, July 26. Dee Boeck was 2nd in F75-79 while Cindy Blakely-Cameron was 2nd in F60-64. Cindy also won the 5K F60-64 race on Thur along with Larry Rink winning in M75-79 and Grant Bannister in M55-59.
