Club Meeting Minutes

Members Present:  Brenda, Molly, Becky, Celeste, Karen, Dan, Don, Lori, Al, Gene, Dee

Meeting was called to order by President Brenda Groskinsky.

The October meeting minutes were reviewed.  Becky moved to approve and Molly seconded - approved unanimously.

The treasurer's report was given by Gene with an enumeration of expenses and income for October.  He indicated a bank balance of $7,138.67.

An update of the thanksgiving day plans was presented.  Everything is going well and it was  noted entries are about 30% above last year's at this time.  The Buffs are in and awards should be ready this week.

Food items have been secured and pick up dates set.  Dee has met twice with the Woodlawn PTO and they are set to conduct the free fun run, already in possession of the waiver sign up sheets, the course map, the medals for finishers and the Culver's gift cards.

We have the great safety-vests for outdoor workers from P1 Group.

Volunteers can sign up on line this year.  The volunteer shirt order has been placed.

 

 

Coach Al Gipp from the Haskell Indian Nations University spoke to the group expressing appreciation for the financial contribution runLawrence makes to the Mini Mocs youth track and field program.  He also announced that the AIA Conference Cross Country Championships will be held at the Haskell campus cross country course this coming Saturday, November 9.  The women's races start at 10 am and the men's at 10:45 am.  He invited all club members to come and see this exciting event.  The course is easy to get to on the Haskell campus and is very spectator friendly with easy access at several different points along the course.  

It was also announced that the Billy Mills 10K will be held on the cross country course the next morning, Sunday, November 10 at 8 a.m.  Haskell and KU graduate and 10K Olympic Champion Billy Mills will be at the race.

President Brenda announced that she has been appointed to the Nominating Committee for the Road Runners Club of American Board of Directors.

She also noted that she has been receiving numerous requests from different entities soliciting the club to get involved in fund raising activities such as selling discount coupon books to restaurants.  Those present voted to authorize Brenda to decline or ignore such requests.
