The 5K was again the most commonly run distance with 53 races. After the 5K, the most popular distance was the 10K with 19 races followed by the half-marathon with 17 and the marathon with eight. more

And the 2018 Runners of the Year are Joe Moore and Fred Torneden, both of Manhattan.
Honorable mentions are Michelle Andrew of Topeka, Dee Boeck of Lawrence, and Sheryl Drevo of Goddard. more

Congrats to Matt O'Reilly for placing 15th overall at today's Groundhog Run 5K at 8 am this morning, followed by his 16th place in the Groundhog 10K that started at 10 am.

On Jan 20, at the 3M Austin Half Marathon, Molly Wood ran a 2:02:15 and Becky McClure did a 2:17:27.

Researcher evaluates estrogen as therapy for knee osteoarthritis. - More than 30 million Americans suffer from osteoarthritis of the knee, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The degenerative joint disease, often caused by wear and tear, is a leading cause of disability in the U.S. Partly triggered by a breakdown in the fibrocartilage between the bones of the knee joint such as the meniscus, osteoarthritis results in pain, stiffness and less range of motion. At the Ad Astra New Year's Day Run - Ellen Young recognized all the local races who participated in the mini-expo promoting local races throughout the upcoming year. Participating in local races is a fun way to energize your running while supporting a lot of great causes in our community.
